Bariloche to BsAs

Finished up my two weeks in Bariloche with a nighttime canopy zip line through the trees, kayaking, took the teleferico up Cerro Otto overlooking all the lakes, and ate dessert in the rotating restaurant on top.
Forgot to mention earlier that the sun sets at about 10pm this time of year. Very cool. As a result, they eat dinner super late. However, the food is really good. I've eaten a whole lot of beef lately, for really cheap. And the chocolate in Bariloche is excellent as well.
Got in to Buenos Aires on Saturday and so far it´s been great.
Uploaded a bunch more photos from Ecuador and Peru, better late than never, so take a look.

Bariloche is sweet

So I left Santiago on Sunday and arrived in Bariloche, Argentina (Patagonia) safe and sound. The town and surrounding countryside are beautiful. The weather is fantastic (I actually got a sunburn yesterday lying out near the lake that the town surrounds). The school here is also nice and my apartment is only a short walk away. A much more enjoyable commute than my metro ride in Santiago. One interesting difference between Argentina and Chile is the accent. The Argentinians pronounce their "ll" and "yo" like "szhuh". Tough to explain and to understand when listening to.
Anyway, tomorrow we go horesback riding and then another Salsa class on Thursday.
I will upload pics as soon as I can.

Feliz Año Nuevo

Howdy everyone. Sorry it's been a while since my last confession, but I've been mighty busy. In the cultural realm I've taken a tango class (fun but hard, don't think I'll become a master anytime soon) a salsa class (much more fun but also difficult. I have another class tonight), went to one of the houses of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda (very interesting as he liked collecting tchotchkes) also hit up some regular museums and went to a Chilean vineyard (Concha y Torro).
In addition, I've been going out with friends nearly every night till the wee hours of the morning. Definitely makes getting up for class at 9am difficult. Por eso, I've been running home after class to take some nice siestas.
I got to celebrate my first real Christmas with my Chilean family. An interesting experience for me. They waited till midnight on Christmas Eve and then let the kids open the presents. After that we had dinner around 1:30am. Pretty strange.
For new Year's, I went with some friends to Valparaiso, a port town west of Santiago. We went to the beach, had a nice asado (BBQ) and then went to a house party in one of the hills overlooking the ocean. From our location we were also able to see the huge fireworks show that draws tons of people from all over Chile each New Year's eve. Very fun. We stayed there dancing till around 7am.
This is my last week in Santiago since I'm heading to Bariloche, Argentina on Sunday. I'm sad to be leaving my friends here, but definitely looking forward to the clean air and natural beauty of the Argentinean Patagonian region.
I have a ton more photos to post but all the computers I've used here have been very slow so it's tough top upload. I'll let you know when they've been posted though.
Hope everyone had a great holiday season and may all your New Year's resolutions come true.
